An assessment of the World’s Top-500 universities carried out by All About Uni reveals that a country’s top university is usually (66%) located in the capital city. The assessment also found that the top university is more often located (80%) in the capital city of small countries (defined as countries having a population of less than 25 million inhabitants).
An assessment of the World's Top-500 universities carried out by AllAboutUni.com reveals that one in three American universities are located in just five States: New York, California, Texas, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. There was a total of 159 American universities in the World’s Top-500 universities in 2008, and they were clustered in these five States as follows: New York (15), California (13), Texas (13), Massachusetts (9) and Pennsylvania (7).
