What is a memory foam pad? A memory foam pad is a synthetic rubber foam pad that acts as a liquid and solid at the same time. The term memory was used because the foam keeps a memory or imprint of your weight for a time, then springs back to its original shape or form when you remove your weight. The best example for this is when you press your hand on the foam, you will see the imprint of your hand then it fades away as the foam resumes or springs back to its original shape. The memory foam pad was first developed as a cushion for astronauts during take off in the 1950's and was commercially produced for beds in the 1970's.

Memory foam is now commercially used in a lot of products, from beds and mattresses, to bed toppers and even in-sole protectors for shoes. Memory foam pads are one of the best materials used for beds or mattresses. The mattresses made from memory foam can be very comfortable. The versatility of the foam to spring back to its original shape makes it ideal for those who are tired of the regular spring coil mattresses. Another characteristic of the memory foam is that it absorbs motion and can avoid sleep disruption, meaning the other person sharing your bed doesn't have to wake up because of your sudden shifting in your sleep. Memory foam mattresses may be expensive, but those who use it find that they sleep longer and better. With memory foam, you also don't have to worry about the springs or coils bending out of shape because of your weight. Memory foam beds also last longer than the traditional spring coil beds, making it practical because the user doesn't need to change mattresses often.

For those who may not afford to change their mattresses may opt to buy memory foam bed toppers instead. These bed toppers not only serve as a protection for your mattress in case of accidental spills from your child or if you have pets in the house, it can also give the comforts of having a memory foam mattress. The bed toppers are also hypoallergenic and they discourage the infestation of dust mites. Memory foam bed toppers come in different thicknesses one can choose from. The durability of the memory foam bed topper is almost the same as the memory foam mattresses because they use the same material. You can use a memory foam bed topper for years while enjoying the same comforts of having a memory foam mattress.

There are also memory foam insole supports for shoes. These insole supports are placed inside your shoe so that you can be comfortable wearing a pair of leather shoes throughout the day. It acts as a cushion for your feet so that you don't feel any strain especially if your work requires you to be on your feet all day. This can also be used as an extra cushion for a pair of favorite shoes that you may have been using for quite some time already.
