Top 5 Films Of 2009 Coming To Satellite Television

It’s the time of year once again when all the actors, producers, directors and everyone else involved in the Hollywood film industry to come together and vote on what they felt were the best performances, production and direction of the year of 2009. The Oscars maybe the most significant film festival, yet main times representation isn’t equally shared for all good films (although this is the first year in which the Oscars will have 10 best picture nominations).

Due to the hectic lifestyles today is surely hard for anyone to be able to see all that the film industry has to offer, but in terms of visual value, several films which may  not have been seen should be taken into account once then come through satellite television to your HD televisions.

In particular this year had its share of blockbuster entertainment filled action thrillers, but in the case that you missed these high packed entertainment flicks they will be just as incredible to watch on a high definition big screen television with a home entertainment audio system at home. Just keep the remote control ready to scroll past these movies as they filter through HBO on your satellite television in 2010.

5.) Inglorious Bastards- The latest film by Quentin Taratino offers a unique glimpse into the World War II scenario with scenes full of bloody sprays of violent retribution against Nazi Germans by Jewish GI killing machines. Chock full of violent images by both sides, the film also shows Quentin’s cultural side of multi-lingual visceral dialogue.

4.) District 9- Produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp the film takes place in a Johannesburg type apartheid situation however the discrimination is done by the South African residents towards a visiting segregated extra-terrestrial community. The visual gems of the film come from the alien interactions with the overpowering multi-interest groups which run experiments on the visitors. The final faceoff pits an unlikely hero alien vs. man showdown.

3.) Star Trek- Paying homage to the 1960’s television series, the 21st century Star Trek blows the original out of the water with chair gripping special effects. The Starship Enterprise sets off into space and all the original characters including Captain Kirk and Spock begin their adventures as the director J.J. Abrams places the viewer into the deep expanses of outer space.

2.) Hurt Locker- Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, this film unlike the previous three takes on a powerful tone due to its very realistic perspective of the Iraq War. All you need to know is that the main character played by Jeremy Renner is deployed on the bomb squad to clean up the streets of Baghdad. The film shows some extremely powerful imagery, along with the day-to-day grind of psychological strain put on the characters dealing with life threatening situations. It also has its fair share of explosions.

1.) Avatar- The number one film to see on your big screen high definition tv this year (if you don’t get the opportunity to see it in the theaters in 3D) is director James Cameron’s latest flick. Hands down the most visually engaging film maybe ever (it is the most expensive), due to the combination of a great musical score along with the visual presence of another completely foreign world full of exotic fluorescent plants, dangerous creatures, and unparalleled landforms. Cameron leaves the audience with the main character as he falls head first into this strange but incredibly stimulating world. Not to mention action sequences which parallel Cameron’s previous blockbuster The Terminator.
