RAID 1 mirroring is a standard RAID level in which hard disks are arranged in a way that creates an exact data copy on two or more hard disks. If either of your hard drive fails, the other hard drive(s) in the array can be used and the RAID array will continue to function. RAID 1 is useful when compared to storage capacity, you require performance and reliability. But at times, computers using RAID 1 show abrupt behavior. It can occur when its file system gets damaged. In such cases, you need to use your recent data backup to restore the lost or inaccessible data. However, if data backup is invalid, incomplete or not available, you need to consult data recovery services for perfect technical assistance and recovery.

As a practical instance, you might receive the following error message when using RAID 1 mirroring on your Windows computer:

“An I/O failure occurred on \Device\Harddiskm\Ftn”

After the occurrence of the above error message, you can’t access your data.

Cause

The above error message is encountered due to mirrored file system damage. Due to a writing error if a conflict occurs with the mirrored file system, it might get damaged. If this writing error is limited to one mirrored hard drive, you may still access your information from the same sector on the mirrored hard drive.

Solution

To solve the above issue, you need to follow these steps in order:

Use chkdsk utility to repair file system corruption. It is a command-line tool that you can use to fix file system errors. If the problem persists and you can’t access your data, you need to consult a Data Recovery company to recover the lost data.

Data Recovery Services are provided by various solution providers for safe extraction of lost data from crashed hard drives, SSDs (Solid State Drives) and other storage media. All data recovery situations are handled by experienced professionals who ensure that you achieve quick and safe Data Recovery or file recovery. In case of RAID failure, special techniques are deployed for effectively recovering the data. All the procedures are carried out under safe and sterile of Clean Rooms, which are controlled lab environment to prevent factors like dust, humidity, ESD (Electrostatic discharge) etc.

Stellar Information Systems Limited is the leading provider of high-quality and safe data recovery. Stellar professionals follow component level procedures under state-of-the-art Class-100 Clean Rooms for Server, RAID, NAS and SAN hard drives. The recovery solutions are provided for storage media as hard drives (SCSI, SATA, IDE and EIDE), SSDs (SATA, SCSI) and also USB flash drives.
