Technology In Space Exploration

Private Space Business – Think Tank Topic

Not long ago, our think tank on the Internet was discussing the privatization of space, that is to say the switchover from everything being government run by NASA, and an international coordinated effort with other countries for human space exploration to free enterprise based space activities. Many have criticized that NASA is beyond reproach and that no private free enterprise can compete with the massive scientific accomplishments of that agency. Indeed, as the coordinator for a think tank online I completely disagree.

And let me try to explain why. You see, since private enterprise is more efficient, and since we already have the technology we need to release through a transfer technology strategy to the private sector, it makes sense to release the controls since the government either can't or will not continue to fund space exploration at the rates needed to move mankind into the future.

Incidentally, I was on hand for the Rutan/Branson X-prize flight win at Mojave Airport that day, the day that those gentlemen made history, and it was a great day for mankind, a wonderful celebration, and proof positive that all things are possible using the free enterprise model. When looking at the privatization of space I am most intrigued by some of the latest technologies which I've seen. Things such as;

The inflatable satellite space-station habitats, rocket ships, and innovations of today are merely the beginning, on our way to space mining, space hotels, planetary colonies, and beyond. There are plans on the drawing board, there are entrepreneurs out getting funded, and their companies finding that there are plenty of takers were willing to sign up in advance for space trips and travel. Some of these companies and corporations already have plans for filing for an IPO on the stock market, and they have big investors, investment bankers, and private backers behind them.

We have space port type airports being built as we speak, and these are going in and not just the United States, but several other nations. The future is grand for private space travel, and it's time to allow some of the transfer technologies from NASA to filter in to the private sector, and be used by those corporations and entrepreneurs who can be trusted with such advanced technologies.

It is my contention that the sky is no longer the limit, and each consecutive year these private space corporations will continue to advance human engineering, technology, and innovation. Quite frankly in my personal opinion it's about time. Indeed, hope you please consider this.
