Meditation To Help You Remove The Clutter In Your Mind And Help You Achieve Goals

So often the biggest thing that holds us back from taking the first step towards achieving goals is the endless seemingly trivial stuff that keeps us busy. Those non essential tasks can keep our stress levels high and our anxiety about not reaching our goals constantly bubbling under the surface.

So often the biggest thing that holds us back from taking the first step towards achieving goals is the endless seemingly trivial stuff that keeps us busy. Those non essential tasks can keep our stress levels high and our anxiety about not reaching our goals constantly bubbling under the surface.

If you really want to achieve goals you might want to take a look at the things that you're keeping yourself busy with. They may well not be the root cause of all your stress. In fact they may well be the excuse that's keeping you from goal achievement. Very often this clutter of distractions is the result of fear of taking that first step and this is where the real stress lies. Deep down you know what you need to do so the avoidance of that first step nags away at you making you more stressed.

The following exercise can a relieve many a stress disorder by clearing your mind before you act.

With your eyes closed bring your attention to your breath. It helps to start with your focus on the tip of your nose. Don't try to change your breath just watch it.

As you do this you may notice all the mental self talk that's going on in your head. Don't try to change that either. Just allow the thoughts to come and go without running away with them. When you do follow those thoughts as soon as you become aware that that has happened bring yourself back to your breath.

As you narrow your attention focusing it more and more on the inhalations and exhalations you may well become aware of certain sensations. You may notice how the inward breath is cooler than the outward breath. Give these sensations your complete focus.

Follow the breath deep into your body. As you go you'll probably find the depth of your breathing naturally expanding.

This exercise will last as long as it lasts. If you can give it your full attention for 5 minutes then that's great. Even better if it's longer.

What I hope you'll experience is the absence of mental clutter when you finish. This clear playing field will make those first steps less daunting and reduce your occupational stress.
