Journalism is the profession of writing and communicating, employed by publications and broadcasters, beneficial for oublic or a particular community. Journalists are expected to use facts to describe events, ideas, or issues that are relevant to the publc and people. Journalists are also known as news analysts, reporters, correspondents that gather information and broadcast it so public remain informed and aware of local, state, national, and international eventsand happenings, can also present their points of view on current issues and report on the actions of the government, public officials, corporate executives, interest groups, media houses, and social powers and authorities.Correspondents report on news occurring in the main, locally, from their own country, or from foreign cities they are stationed on.
At times, breaking stories are written by random staff members, through information collected and submitted by other reporters who are out on the field gathering news for an event that has just taken place and needs to be broadcast. Radio and television reporters often compose stories and report "live" from the scene. Some journalists also interpret the news or offer opinions and analysis to readers, viewers, or listeners. In this role, they are called commentators or columnists.In a print publication, the first phase of presenting a news finds the reporter involved in investigation, observation of event and interviews with people..The story is edited by news or copy-editors.Internet is playing a great role in supporting journalism as it also allows the formal and informal publication of news stories through mainstream medial outlets as well as blogs and other self-published news stories.
In journalism articles are written about topics that are considered notable by the editors of the publication, depending on the focus of the audience and publisher.Journalism is quiet a vast field branched up into too many fields now of which ones worths mentioning are:-
