The process of tape tracking in LTO-3 has been improved by the incorporation of superior servo writing system that ensures efficient read/write operations. Dual layer media formulation of Imation has helped to heighten the scalability and output frequency of the high capacity LTO-3 data tape. Media formulation used by Imation in the development of LTO-3 ultrium is the MP3 metal particulate. The off-track errors in Imation ultrium-3 media format have been significantly reduced because of the PES (Position Error Signal).
