Have you ever dreamed of being a contestant on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” How about “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?” Well in order to do that you should first brush up on your trivia knowledge. You don’t need a lot. In fact sometimes all you need is an easel board, a globe, and the internet.
1. World Geography- Do you know what the capital of Hungary is? How about the country of Nepal? These are prime time questions when it comes to popular TV game shows. You definitely want to brush up on your countries and their capitals pronto, if you don’t know these you’re going home.
2. Pop Culture- Are you familiar with the Woodstock Era? Or how about the artist who single handedly pioneered the electric guitar? Pop culture is another big category in mainstream trivia so be sure to brush up on the times.
3. Politics- Though it’s very boring it is probably suitable for you to study all 43 has-been United States presidents, especially if you are a native!
4. World History- Do you know what date Pearl Harbor took place on? Or how about which countries were involved in WW 2? If you don’t know these important dates in history, you could be booed off the stage. Plus, it’s just embarrassing if you can’t remember what year September 11th happened off the top of your head.
5. Vocabulary and Language- Do you know what a prepositional clause is? How about the language in which most of our dialect originates from? Well, if you don’t know the basic English rules, you could be coming home early from the hot seat. Be sure to do some heavy reading and refresh your mind with K-8 basics.
