Hong Kong Science Museum – Bringing Science to Life

Over 500 fascinating exhibits are displayed for the general public to see, learn and understand through hands on experience at the Hong Kong Science Museum, located east of Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, in the Kowloon peninsula.

Over 500 fascinating exhibits are displayed for the general public to see, learn and understand through hands on experience at the Hong Kong Science Museum, located east of Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, in the Kowloon peninsula. It is also located near the Museum of History. The museum is a one way ticket to insight on a wide range of science-related subjects and technology.

The museum can be reached by taking the MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit B2 and walking along Cameron Road towards East Tsim Sha Tsui for about 8 minutes. The Hong Kong Science Museum is opened to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 9pm and is closed on Thursday (except on public holidays) and the first two days of the Lunar New Year. Constructed in 1990, the four-storey building of the museum has 16 separate gallery spaces.

The 22-metre-high twin-tower Energy Machine is the highlight of the museum which produces spectacular audiovisual effects displaying various forms of energy. Another popular attraction among kids is the car which can be driven in almost real simulation. The museum also enlightenes the visitors in fun and interactive methods on subjects of communication, food, magnetism, light, motion, mathematics, computers, transportation and sound. The museum also consists of a lecture hall, a laboratory, a gift shop, a computer classroom, a resource centre, a cafeteria and a book shop. The centre also organizes special workshops extension activities and educational programmes based on various science topics for the public. Guided tours will help you with explanations on the exhibits and assist you in operating exhibits. There are different guided tours to suit the handicapped, elderly, group visitors and school students.
