Have you ever been slightly curious as to what the rental price of your neighbours flat or house is? All of us are naturally inquisitive individuals and knowing what others pay in rent (especially if the flat is the same size as your own) can be beneficial. For those who want to know what the rentals in your neighbourhood are, The London government has kindly decided to bring your inquisitive nature to an end with their newly launched interactive rental price map.

The Rents Map, brought to the public by the Mayor of London, is an online map that does a comprehensive comparison of estimated private rental prices for various types of properties – no matter the size. Anything from a one bedroom apartment to a spacious 3 bedroomed home can be compared, no matter the area that they are located in. When you visit the website, all you have to do is simply enter your desired location (this can be a postcode, area or underground station) as well as a property type (how many rooms you are looking for). Once similar search terms show up of your desired area, click on one and you will be directed to a rental price map that shows the “average weekly rents for this property type and area” as well as “range of rents in this area and the wider borough.”

The map has been constructed according to the past property market trends and draws its information from a 21 000 strong database. These price estimates have been contributed by landlords all around London and help one to see what the average rental price of a UK property is today.

Another benefit of the London Rents Map is that individuals who are searching for potential living spaces can see the average rental of an area before choosing a neighbourhood to relocate to. For example, form London Rents map we can see that the rental price of a home in Kensington can be on average £625 per week – the most expensive rental price average. On the other side of the scale, renting a home or flat in Dartford will be your cheapest option.

This new interactive map has not only been implemented so that home searchers can compare prices. From this initiative, government is hoping that shady landlords charging exorbitant prices for rental spaces will change their tune and comply with general rental prices. The implementation of this map also hopes to improve the quality of landlord tenant relationships. So if you want a property for rent in Regents Park or Bayswater, The Rents Map will help you locate a rental price that is right for you.
