I have to first say that is total hogwash, and the purpose for this article is to offer educated solutions to the cess-pool's we swim in. First, I offer up a quote from The Washington Post in June of 1994, "The EPA (environmental protection agency) has raised skin absorption of chlorine to its top 10 carcinogen Watch List." According to the CDC, injuries caused by exposure to toxic pool chemicals account for as many as 5,200 emergency room visits across the United States each year. Nearly all the injuries in 2007 occurred at a residence and most of the incidents were entirely preventable with proper care in the use of the chemicals, the CDC said. “Pool chemicals make the water we swim in safer by protecting us from germs, but these same chemicals can also cause injuries if they are not properly handled,” said Michele Hlavsa, lead author of a new study on the danger of pool chemicals and an epidemiologist at CDC. Now, I would like to switch the direction of this article to a solution to this CANCER CAUSING PROBLEM. The solution has a name, and that name is Copper Ionization, and Copper Ionization is the way of the future. In Santa Clarita County, California Salt water pool systems, which were apparently the original solution to the early known issue, have been banned, outlawed, made illegal.. you get the point. The reason for this may not have been because of the direct danger for human life, rather the damage to the environment from Salt Water run-off into fresh water sources. However, my point is Salt Water Systems are not an environmentally friendly nor resonsible alternative for a Chemical Free Pool. Plus, Salt water pools still need chlorine, in fact they generate it, but at much lower levels due to the pH of these pools. Copper Ionization on the other hand is a true alternative to Chemicals and the only Chemical Free Pool solution. A Copper ionized pool is one of the greatest pleasures you will experience. Once you realize the beauty of swimming in an ionized, Chemical Free Pool, you will only have to swim in a chemically-treated pool one more time to know how bad chlorine is and how lucky you are to have an ionized pool. Chlorine free pools / Chemical Free Pools do exist and have been around for years.  Intec a copper ionization system manufacture, was the first company to commercialize copper ionization for use Chemical Free Pools over 30 years ago.  Copper ionization has become more popular due to the concerns of chlorine being absorbed though the skin and having direct links to cancer.  Now, more than ever, a chlorine free pool is desired. Without sanitation, algae, viruses, fungi, and other micro-organisms can originate, grow multiply and infest the average pool in less than one hour. Diseases too numerous to mention affecting the ears, eyes, nose, throat, skin, and internal organs are often spread from one person to another. Ionization was developed by NASA and is the least expensive of all disinfecting methods. Ionization is also the only method that produces healthy pool water. Ionization is the easiest of all disinfecting methods to maintain and monitor. The complete system comes with the Water Doctor electronic unit, copper electrode, and necessary test kits.
