Home offices are becoming more and more common. They have evolved mainly because developments of modern technology, low cost broadband access, the internet and computers. Now, it has become a need of the era to have a home office. However, it is not an easy task to create a home office because of the space constraints in the modern home. These tips have been formulated by experts and are proven to be effective in producing the perfect home office. Effective space utilization will be the focus of every tip.

1. The selection of the ideal space will be the first tip for the home office. Remember "well begun is half done". Select the space according to the nature of work, and the space required for that type of work. A guest room is ideal, if your space allows for one.

2. Planning is the most vital thing, as they say "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail". So make a note of all your requirements on a piece of paper. Start by drawing out the potential layout, then write down all the tasks required to turn the room into a home office, e.g. decorate, move furniture, buy new desk, etc.

3. As you become confident about the plan, consider the ideas to make it become most convenient, comfortable and affordable. It is always advised to include space saving tools rather than costly things, such as screens for separation rather than a wall. If you want to change your requirements, don't hesitate, remember ‘better late than never'.

4. If you are short of space considering how you are using the space and whether there are any space saving solutions you can utilize. For example, inflatable air beds are an excellent idea, since they can be inflated at times when you have guests and neatly folded away at all other times. Some air beds only take 15 second to inflate and 45 seconds to deflate.

5. Use wall mounted cabinets as storage spaces rather than floor cabinets.

6. Choose ergonomically designed furniture, which can fit into your space conveniently.

7. If you are really in short of space, select integrated furniture, which can include cabinet, writing space, space to place the computer.

8. Laptops are considered to be a better option for a home office, because in limited space you can fold them away, when not in use.

9. Last must not least; be disciplined to restrict your office work to the selected place or else it may disturb the rhythm of both office and home life.
